چکیده
Primary pleural lymphoma is a rare entity. We report a 64-year-old-man with primary malignant lymphoma arising in the pleura with no history of persistent pyothorax. Chest computed tomography scan (CT) showed left pleural effusion with thickening of the parietal pleura. There were no intrapulmonary or mediastinal abnormalities. Analysis of pleural effusion did not detect empyema, tuberculosis, mycobacterium species, or mycelium. Initially, malignant mesothelioma was suspected, but it could not be diagnosed by cytological examination of pleural fluid. Flow cytometric analysis of pleural fluid showed cytomorphologic and immunophenotypic evidence of diffuse B cell non Hodgkin’s lymphoma (nHl) (Figure 1). [18F]2-fluoro-deoxy-D-glucose (F-18 FDg) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan revealed a diffuse F-18 FDg uptake on thickened costal and diaphragmatic parietal pleura in left hemithotax indicating pleural involvement (Figure 2).Pathological and immunohistochemical (with CEA, lCA, CD20, CD3) examination of the pleural lesion obtained by pleural biopsy revealed that it was B-cell of the diffuse large cell type of nHl arising from the pleura . We have written informed consent and no conflict of interest.

Abstract B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (B-LBL) is an uncommon subtype of pediatric non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) which rarely involves the skin primarily. The positron emission tomography with 2-deoxy-2-[fluorine- 18] fluoro-D: -glucose integrated with computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) scan findings of a 8-year-old boy with cutaneous B-LBL were presented. PET/CT scan demonstrated mild FDG up...
متن کامل18F-FDG PET/CT in Neurolymphomatosis: Report of 3 Cases
Neurolymphomatosis is a rare manifestation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by infiltration of peripheral nerves, nerve roots, plexus and cranial nerves by malignant lymphocytes. This report presents positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT)imaging with 2-deoxy-2-18F-fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) in 3 cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with nerve infiltration, including one newly d...
متن کاملPosterior scapular lymph nodes in a patient with follicular lymphoma on whole-body 2-deoxy-2-[18F]-fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT).
A 58-year-old man with a history of follicular lymphoma complained of progressively enlarging nontender adenopathy, increasing fatigue, new-onset peripheral edema, progressive anemia, and demonstrated a monoclonal kappa restricted population on the flow-cytometry. Patient was referred for a re-staging 18F-FDG PET/CT study, with a clinical suspicion of progression to a leukemic phase of his lymp...
متن کاملEarly detection of intravascular large B-cell lymphoma by 18FDG-PET/CT with diffuse FDG uptake in the lung without respiratory symptoms or chest CT abnormalities
Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a rare and aggressive subtype of systemic extranodal non-Hodgkin diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We report a rare case of IVLBCL who showed diffuse 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in the lung in FDG-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) without respiratory symptoms or chest CT abnormalities. Serum biochemical studies...
متن کاملPleural dissemination disclosed by 18F-FDG-PET/CT.
A 65-year old man was admitted because of dyspnea on exertion. Chest radiograph showed massive pleural effusion of the right lung. Large volumes of pleural fluid (>500 mL) were obtained by thoracentesis three times, but malignant cells were not detected. We performed fluoro-2-deoxy-Dglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT) in order to discriminate non-malignant dise...
